I just posted the following on an older thread - plz forgive the repeat but I thought I'd repost in this newer thread: /**********/ On Tuesday of this week I picked up my first handgun - P229R. I researched online between all 9mm makes and models and then fired the top contenders at the range. However, being a newbie to this process I was not aware of every detail to look into. Upon delivery of the weapon I asked to open the case and inspect the firearm and magazines et all. I WAS NOT aware to inspect the case and look for the manufacture date. My January 2016 purchased yielded at January 2013 weapon. Hmmm. At first I was a bit perturbed by this as (1) I paid 2016 prices for a 2013 model (2) I would prefer a model with the latest design and manufacturing upgrades as occurs from time to time. So I called Sig CS today and told them of my concerns and gave them the SN. They confirmed it was manufactured in Jan. 2013 but also stated that both year models are EXACTLY the same. What do you guys think about that statement? Are they the same? If so, my concern goes out the door. But I wouldn't want to pay 2016 Mercedes prices for a 2013 model. |
Glock 27 Serial Number Lookup
Glock Gen search by Serial Number I sent my daughter a Glock 17 and now all of a sudden it seems Gen is important in California. Is there anyplace I can check the Gen of the pistol using the serial number? I'm trying to look up the model of my gun. All I have is a serial number 78468 the maker of the gun bringingham the barrel length is 25 in it is a rifle.

A recent Gunbroker auction brought this to mind as well as previous discussions on actual production dates for the earliest Glock 17 pistols. While I believe it is possible for a serial number prefix to have more than one date code it may not be possible to have more than the letter prefix of the serial number available.
